ESTABLISHING HISTORY

Ideas has borned in a cafe of Belgrade during the Belgrade Underwater Festival on 2003 by Bruno Bratovic, Peter Svitanek, Hakan Öniz, Milorad Djuknic, Karl Heinz Wolf, Leonore Wolf and Grozdana Bankovic. It shaped in Kemer of Antalya-Turkey during the Kemer festival in May, 2004.

The memorandum of European Underwater Images Festivals Association (EUIFA) signed in Belgrade at 12.12.2004.

 

EUIFA established in North Cyprus at 29.04.2005.

 

Legal status realized in Belgrade as a non-governmental and non profit-making association in 2005 with the aims of; to promote the global significance and reputation of Underwater IMAGES Festivals across the Europe and in the rest of the World; to support the promotion of underwater beauties and values for tourism; to support the studies about cultural inheritance, environments and archeology, to give an aspect to international development of academic and independent underwater imaging activities.

UNESCO Underwater Cultural Heritage Regional Meeting ended in Istanbul at 25-27

33 representatives of 18 States of the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea region and the Arab States have met in Istanbul in the UNESCO Regional Meeting on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage from 25 – 27 October 2010. They came namely from Albania, Algeria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and the Ukraine. The participants discussed the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, adopted in 2001, and its implications, as well as the situation of submerged heritage and of underwater archaeology in their regions.
